You deliver every Friday at work.
Why not for yourself?
Proficio gives your solo projects what your day job already has: deadlines with real consequences. Set a date. Stake money. Deliver — or it goes to a cause you chose.
No subscription. Stake fully refunded when you deliver. 6% platform fee.
In the full app: custom stake · cause · peer reviewer
A deadline without consequences is just a wish.
You hit every deadline at work. Why don't you hit them on your own things? The system is different — not the person.
Same person. Different system.
How it works
The simplest accountability system that actually works.
Four steps. About sixty seconds. No subscription. No coach. No streaks to lose.
- 01
Set a deadline.
A goal you'd be proud to deliver + a date you'll actually defend.
- 02
Put skin in the game.
Stake any amount you'd hate to lose. Charged via Stripe at commit, fully refunded the moment you deliver.
- 03
Deliver by the deadline.
Mark it done — optionally with a peer reviewer who confirms.
- 04
Get your money back. Or don't.
Deliver: full refund. Miss: it goes to a cause you chose.
Reminders that scale with how long you've got
We nudge you on a cadence that gets sharper as the date approaches — never silent, never spammy.
The proof
Loss hurts about 2× more than gain feels good.
Behavioral economists like Daniel Kahneman & Amos Tversky proved it decades ago: people work harder to avoid losses than to chase rewards. Gym memberships, savings apps, and even food delivery platforms quietly rely on the same principle. Proficio applies that same behavioral insight to personal deadlines and solo projects.
Inside Proficio
Built for the deadlines you actually keep.
01 · Active Deadlines
Every promise you've made yourself, in one place.
Color-coded countdowns. Status at a glance. The same view your future self will judge you by — refreshing every second.
| Goal | Stake | Time Left(d : h : m : s) | Action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Finish first draft | $100 | -- : -- : -- : -- | |
| Submit grant proposal draft | $200 | -- : -- : -- : -- | |
| Record podcast episode 03 | $50 | Deadline passed |
02 · Peer reviewer (optional)
For the deadlines that need a witness.
Nominate someone you trust. They get a one-click email to confirm you delivered. Not a referee — just someone you'd be embarrassed to lie to.
Did Innocent deliver “Finish first draft”?
Hi —
Innocent Ngene nominated you as the peer reviewer on a deadline. He says he delivered it. Could you confirm?
Review what he delivered and ask him anything you need. Decline if you're not convinced — he can keep working and resubmit before the deadline.
One click. No account needed. Sent because Innocent listed your email at deadline creation.
03 · Past Deadlines
Your full track record.
Wins in green. Misses in red. Pending donations clearly marked. Your own history of follow-through becomes the most persuasive thing in the room.

Where the money goes
Four causes. All vetted. All global.
Miss your deadline and your stake is donated to one of these. We picked organizations that are recognized worldwide, independently audited, and known for delivering real impact.
- Education
UNICEF
For every child, education.
The most universally trusted children's organization on the planet. When you forfeit, your stake helps a child stay in school.
- Health
Against Malaria Foundation
One bed net at a time.
GiveWell's #1 ranked charity for cost-effectiveness. Every dollar visibly moves the needle — your missed deadline saves real lives.
- Humanitarian
Save the Children
A century of saving the youngest lives.
A trusted, century-old humanitarian institution with the emotional weight that matters when a deadline slips.
- Environment
World Wildlife Fund
Protecting the planet's wild places.
The most recognized conservation organization in the world. Your forfeited stake protects wild places that can't protect themselves.
Pricing
One small fee. Everything else is yours — or the cause's.
No tiers. No subscriptions. No locked features. The platform fee covers Stripe + operations; we never take a cut of donations.
Worked example: a $100 commitment costs $106 at checkout. Ship it: you get $100 back. Miss it: $100 to your cause; the $6 covers Stripe + us.
Questions
The hard ones, answered honestly.
Every deadline has a 24-hour grace period after the cutoff. After that, the stake is auto-donated to your chosen cause.
Technically, yes. In practice, most people don’t — the platform fee is already sunk, and the optional peer reviewer adds a layer of social accountability that makes gaming the system uncomfortable. Proficio is designed for people who genuinely want accountability, not loopholes.
You pick a cause bucket (Health, Climate, Education, etc.) when you commit. Each bucket maps to a real registered charity, and the choice is frozen at commit-time so we can't swap it on you. Donations are batched and submitted to the charity within days of forfeiture.
Refunds are designed to be reliable and transparent. Every commitment is tracked end-to-end, and if something ever goes wrong with a refund, our team steps in to resolve it manually.
Stripe takes roughly 3% of every transaction. The remaining ~3% covers infrastructure, email, support, and engineering. We don't make money from your forfeitures — only from the platform fee.
Today: peer reviewers, who confirm individual deadlines. Group commitments and team challenges are on the roadmap.
Yes. You're staking against your own deadline, not gambling against another user; refunds are honored on completion; donations only happen on forfeiture and go to verified charities. Nothing leaves your card unless you explicitly authorize the commitment.
